• The Communication,Navigation & Surveillance equipments are the backbone for safe and smooth operation of Aircraft.
• The Department of CNS have the responsibility and objective for :
• Operation & Maintenance of all Communication,Navigation and Surveillance facilities such as VHF/HF Communication System, Voice Communication System (VCS), Digital Automatic terminal Information System (D-ATIS), Digital Voice Data Logger (DVTR), Dedicated Satellite Communication Network (DSCN), Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), Very High Frequency Omni Range (VOR), Distance measuring instrument (DME), Non Directional Beacon (NDB), Instrument Landing System(ILS), Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) Air route Surveillance Radar(ARSR), Mono pulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR), Automation of ATS Services etc.
• Maintenance of X-Ray Baggage Inspection system (X-BIS), and other security equipment such as Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD), and Hand Held Metal Detector (HHMD).
• Monitoring the performance of each equipment on day to day basis.
• Monitoring the Flight Calibration of Sensitive equipment so that they work with optimum efficiency and accuracy.
• Management of Man Power including their training for smooth operation of Communication, Navigation and Surveillance facilities.
• Monitoring of New Projects related to installation of CNS facilities at different Airports in India.
• Purchase of Spare Parts for effective maintenance of equipment.
